Pirates of the Black Seas (Commodore 64)
A downloadable game
Ahoy, there mate! Are you ready for an old school text adventure set in the days of the buccaneers? Well, if so, get your adventuring skills ready and read on!
Pirates of the Black Seas is a text adventure game created with Loadstar's Quest Writer (Published on Loadstar #77 – created by Jon Mattson).
The game takes place in the year 1668, and casts you as a young man who is serving as a cabin boy on a voyage that is seeking to rout those bad boys of the ocean, the Pirates of the Black Seas. The ship you are on, the Golden Wind, is under the command of your uncle, who is a captain in the English navy. But before the Golden Wind gets a chance to find the pirates, the pirates find it, and attack. During the attack, you are swept overboard and end up being washed up on the tropical island of St. Klev. Your quest is to find a way to find a way to stop the Pirates of the Dark Seas. Along the way, you’ll find yourself in a romance and a greater adventure.
One quick hint: The LOOK command will uncover any hidden objects in a room if there are any.
Have fun on your adventure! If you get stuck, you can check out the included solution that can be read from the main menu. More detailed instructions are included as well and can also be accessed from the main menu.
(This game is a renamed and slightly updated version of my previously released game under the title “Pirates of the Dark Waters” – it has been renamed in order to avoid potential confusion with another franchise.)
